IRU turns 25 today!

For the past 25 years you and your neighbors – the people who are IRU – have been proving that passion, persistence and citizen involvement make a tangible difference for Idaho’s rivers.

A quarter century ago today, on July 9, 1990, Idaho Rivers United was born. As our work spread to the far corners of Idaho so too did our membership, and the people of IRU have established themselves as a force that’s here for the long haul.

On this historic day, please consider a one-time 25th Anniversary donation that will go directly to supporting IRU’s river conservation work. And if you’re not an IRU member, please consider joining today.

Today is an opportunity to celebrate 25 years of success, but also to look ahead to the next 25 years of challenges.

With your help we’ve protected rivers and fish in every region of the state and carried our message to decision makers at every level of government. With your help we’ve prevented new dam construction, prevented extinction of our wild salmon and steelhead, designated new Wild and Scenic rivers, protected existing Wild and Scenic rivers and defended stream flows in some of Idaho’s most prized blue ribbon trout streams.

Looking ahead, the need for your involvement and support remains. Dams, dewatering, development and pollution still threaten our precious rivers, and your involvement and support are needed now as much as ever. We’re still working to restore our endangered wild salmon, protect Wild and Scenic rivers, maintain and restore stream flows and educate the next generation of river conservationists.

Again, please consider a one-time 25th Anniversary donation that will go directly to supporting IRU’s work to protect and restore Idaho’s rivers.

We look forward to your continued partnership for the next quarter century of successful conservation work. Thank you!
