IRU members are river lovers who’ve been working together for 25 years to make Idaho a better place to live, a place where the life-blood of our landscape—its rivers—run clean, free flowing, and healthy.
The mission of Idaho Rivers United is straightforward: to protect and restore the rivers of Idaho. But our work is anything but simple. Idaho has nearly 100,000 miles of rivers, more than any other state except Alaska. Amazingly, less than 1 percent of these rivers are protected. And one of Idaho’s most iconic species—wild salmon—has been pushed to the brink of extinction. Our staff, board and amazing legion of volunteers fight every day on these issues, for you and for the future of Idaho’s rivers.
As you know, IRU is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. A strong foundation has been built and there’s unlimited potential in front of us for the next 25 years. To launch into this next quarter century of work, Idaho’s rivers need your continued partnership. Your voice at the table so that decision-makers in Idaho and Washington D.C. know their constituents value Idaho’s rivers as Wild and Scenic; a mecca for whitewater recreation; a potential salmon and steelhead fishing capital of the lower 48. Not just for irrigation and hydropower.
This is our driving force—to partner with you to protect and restore Idaho’s rivers now and for future generations.
As you may have heard, IRU recently received a $20,000 matching grant from the good folks at the Bullitt Foundation. This is an exciting opportunity for us to launch into our next 25 years of river conservation work and help us deliver on the successful initiatives you’ve come to expect. IRU’s board of directors immediately stepped up and turned it into a $25,000 matching grant to coincide with our 25th anniversary.
We only get this money if we match it with $25,000 from you, IRU’s members and supporters. We’re over half way there, but need your help to finish the job. Click here to help protect Idaho’s rivers and be a part of meeting the match. Thank you!
And thanks for being a member of IRU. Your partnership is critical in fulfilling the collective mission of keeping Idaho’s rivers free-flowing, clean and filled with wild fish. We’ll look forward to seeing you at the Auction for the Rivers on November 7.
