IRU Asks Ada County for better oversight of Barber Dam

Idaho Rivers United asked Ada County to provide better oversight to operations of the Barber Dam on the Boise River to protect public health and safety and the ecology of the Boise River.

IRU's Boise River Campaign Coordinator, Liz Paul, made the request at the special public meeting addressing the interruption of flow in the Boise River on February 4, 2015 held by the Ada County Commission on May 27.

More than 75 people attended the meeting, and nearly 20 people addressed the Commissioners with their concerns and questions.

Liz's comments include a timeline of the February 4 accident that caused the flow to stop for more than seven hours. A number of unanswered questions are raised as well.
