First session of Wild & Scenic Stewardship Guide Education Program has launched!

Tess McEnroe, IRU Graduate Fellow

IRU’s Wild & Scenic Stewardship Guide Education Program launched on January 14th, and is off to a great start! The program kicked off with a Zoom seminar, allowing us to introduce program leaders, connect with participants, and network with the river community. Lisa Byers, Wilderness and Rivers Program Manager Salmon-Challis National Forest, and Katherine Baer, Director of Science and Policy at the River Network, joined us for the launch as well, representing the organizations that helped make this program possible.

Currently, 118 people are enrolled in the first session, and new registrations continue to roll in each day. The enthusiasm and support for this program have only highlighted how crucial it is for the guiding community.  We are excited to support this cohort through the certification and to continue to grow and refine the curriculum for future sessions.

If you are interested in signing up for this free professional development opportunity, it is not too late to register. The last day to enroll is January 31st, so sign up today if you would like to be part of this session.  If you are interested in the program but unable to participate in this session, stay tuned for updates about our next launch.

Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate of completion, education materials, and a sun hoodie with the program logo.
