This year we had 275 volunteers pick up 942 pounds of trash from the greenbelt along the Boise River! Thank you to EVERYONE who made this day a smashing success!

The Boise River is a true gem of the Treasure Valley; it's a 102-mile river with headwaters that extend from the Boise National Forest and flow into the confluence of the Snake River. It consists of a 29-mile paved greenbelt path that is a common transportation route in the Treasure Valley and it supplies endless opportunities for outdoor fun: providing opportunities to play fetch with your dog friends, birdwatch, fish for rainbow and brown trout, relax along its riverbanks, and the all-time summer favorite activity -- floating a 6-mile section of the river that extends from Barber Park to Ann Morrison park. Last year, Boise Parks and Recreation reported that 130,000 people enjoyed a refreshing float.

The Boise River flows through the heart of the Treasure Valley community and has added significantly to our local culture. Idaho Rivers United and 94.9 the River know how important the Boise River is to the Treasure Valley community, and we want to make sure it stays beautiful and healthy for everyone to enjoy. In 2024, our organizations partnered for our first-ever End of Float Season cleanup. Since then, we rallied 440 amazing volunteers from our community and removed a whopping 2650 pounds of trash.

This event isn't just a cleanup—it's a party! After all the hard work, stick around for a community celebration and afterparty hosted by 94.9 The River and Idaho River Sports. We'll have vendors, delicious food trucks, refreshing shaved ice, lively music, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and trash themed games. Plus, as a thank you for your hard work, all volunteers will be entered into a raffle for some great prizes! And that's not all—Idaho River Sports is offering special in-store discounts and discounts on rentals just for volunteers, and they'll be donating 10% of all in-store sales to Idaho Rivers United.

So come clean the river and party with us on September 12th!
